Lunch Prices for 2010-2011:
Hot Lunch at Central School: K-5 $2.10; 6-8 $2.20
Milk at St. Mary's 0.40
Children may bring a cold lunch to eat at St. Mary's, eat hot lunch at Central School, or eat at home.
If a child goes home for lunch or eats elsewhere, the school requests a note stating that the parent has given permission, or the parent must come into the office to sign the child out for the lunch period. In these cases, parents must assume the entire responsibility for the safety and the conduct of their children.
Students who bring lunch from home will eat in the multi-purpose room where milk is offered daily. They are not to leave the school ground without permission from the principal.
Well-balanced meals are served daily at the Central School cafeteria for those who choose to eat hot lunch.
Money for lunch accounts may be sent to school and given to classroom teachers or brought to the office.
Each family who has a child who eats hot lunch at Central School or who brings their lunch must serve lunch duty or choose the option of paying $40.00 for a substitute for the year. A lunch duty shift is one hour and involves supervising children at lunch and at noon recess. For recess, Grades K-4 and Grades 5-8 will alternate daily with one using the gym for recess and the other group either outside or in the classrooms. Parent volunteers will be placed where most needed. In order to fulfill your yearly lunch duty obligation, each family must complete a total of 8 shifts per year. Lunch duty may be served by you, a friend, or family member that has completed the Safe Environment Program.
Those parents assigned to duty are asked to either find a substitute or send $5.00 to hire a substitute if they are unable to fulfill their obligation on a given day. If unable to find a substitute, parents should call the school office and special arrangements will be made. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND SUBSTITUTES AT THE LAST MINUTE. EXCEPT IN CASES OF EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE IF YOU CANNOT MAKE YOUR ASSIGNED TIME. It is absolutely vital to the safety of our students that parents who are scheduled for duty on any given day arrive promptly and faithfully to fulfill their supervisory assignments.
Paid supervisors will be hired on an hourly basis to take the duties of those parents who choose to pay $40.00 for the year. The number of supervisors hired each year will depend on the number of families choosing to pay for duty.
