IESA SPEECH CONTEST TIMES
CONCESSION SIGN-UP
Dear Speech Parents,
I am sure that you are all aware that our speech contest is coming up quickly.
Your children should already know their lines and be working on their actins.
Many of the students are not there yet. Please encourage them, listen to them and also make sure they get to practice. Also just a reminder that they do have to be academically eligible to participate in this event.
Just a few things we wanted to make you aware of if your student has not already done so.
- We will have a speech preview on Oct. 26 starting at 4:00 with pizza and beverages for the speech students and starting at 5:00 each group will get an opportunity to show off their speech to the parents and fellow speech students. Mr. Curry has already indicated to all other coaches that this is the primary focus for the evening. All athletes will be excused from practice that evening. Please join us in the MPR as we celebrate and evaluate our speech team.
- The IESA Speech State Contest, Nov. 5, will be at St. Mary’s this year. For those of you that attended the meeting several weeks ago, we are sure you are just waiting to see what task you can help with. We will have sign up so you can choose first come, first serve, using www.signupgenius.com. Please choose what you would like to do and the time you will do it. Thank you to Stephanie Guerrero, Danielle Gill and Michelle McCaskey for volunteering to work in the office and be our all around person for this long day. Thank you to Amanda Lauristen for hosting our hospitality room as well. And a huge thank you to Misti Mies for agreeing to be the concession chair.
All speech parents who do not choose a shift to participate in this event by Wednesday, Oct. 26 will be assigned a shift to work. We NEED everyone’s help to make this a successful event.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to share time with your children. They are learning skills they will use for years to come. Not the least of which is how to stand up and speak in front of their peers.
