Merry Christmas from Grade 1
Christmas greetings from the First Grade! We are focusing on the Advent season of joyful preparation for the coming of the Christ Child. We have hung our Advent wreath as a reminder that Jesus is the light of the world.
In math we are working on adding and subtracting doubles and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
In the weeks before Christmas we will be finishing reading stories with short vowel words and we will introduce words with long vowel sounds. This is an exciting time. It is like the children crack a code and their reading soars!
In Social Studies we have learned the difference between a need and a want. We discussed how lucky we are because there are some children that will not receive any of their wants this Christmas. Most importantly, we pray that all will have what they need.
The First Grade will have the mass on Jan. 13. Keep a look out for mass parts coming home right after Christmas break.
