Minutes from the
St Mary’s School
Booster Club Meeting
President Tammie Mills opened the meeting at 5:03 with a prayer from Principal Mrs. Warfield. Mrs. Warfield, one AD, 3 officers, and 5 parents were in attendance.
Minutes were read from the November 23, 2010 meeting and accepted, first by Janine Leonard and seconded by Mary Dawson.
Treasurer's report balances were given for the savings and checking accounts. We made $5,113.30 on the Fannie Mae Candy Sale. Janine said that she would have profit totals for the Golf Outing, Baseball Tourney, and the Kevin Casson Tourney at our next meeting. Report was accepted by Mary Dawson, and seconded by Jamie Woolford.
AD Craig Curry brought up how desperately we need the bleachers in the new gym motorized. It takes at least 3 adults to move them. They are hard to push in and out, and we don't want to damage them. The cost is $13,645, that doesn't include installation. Tammie Mills said she would talk to Monsignor to see if the Building Maintenance Fund that is collected each month at church could help with the cost. The curtains for each end of the bleachers will cost $1,220.00. This doesn't include installation. It was brought up that if we got the bleachers motorized, that we wouldn't need the curtains. This was tabled until the next meeting.
There was discussion on whether we should have a boy's volleyball team for the 2012-2013 school year. The season will run into the basketball season. We barely have enough boys to play basketball. Craig Curry made a motion for no volleyball for boys, it was seconded by Jennifer Bauknecht.
There was also discussion on whether to have a boy's and girl's golf team for the 2011-2012. The team will consist of 5 boys and 5 girls, starting with 7th and 8th grade students first. There is only one match which is September 10, 2012 in West Chicago. This is during baseball season. There will be something put in the school newsletter to talk to Craig Curry if interested.
Tammie Mills brought up that we need a committee for new officers for the 2011 / 2012 school year. As it stands right now the secretary term is two years, president and vice president is a one year term. There was talk about changing the President and Vice President to two year terms. Jen Bauknecht was going to check with Bill Bertram about the by-laws.
There was discussion on working the Cornbelter games again this summer. We worked 4 games last season and made $1,782.00. We are guaranteed at least $250.00 for each game we work this summer. It was decided that we would work the Cornbelter's games again this season. Each parent that has a child in extracurricular activity WILL be required to work a game. This will be posted as soon as possible.
Craig Curry, Vic Johns, Father Dave, Mrs Warfield, and Monsignor met with Pontiac Christian School about co-oping with girl’s softball and basketball. We will have a 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball team.
Craig brought up hosting regional and sectional games for the next school year. He said that it is a huge undertaking for the concession heads. It was discussed about how much we really made. A percentage of the gate goes to IESA, and to pay the officials. The really big saver for us would be not needing transportation to bus our kids. It was decided that we would go ahead and sign up for whatever we could, and see what we get.
The Concession Policy that was put into effect December 2010 was added to the minutes and is now part of the concession policy.
It was decided that the left over candy in the concession stand will be donated to the Special Olympics Basketball game.
In closing Mrs. Warfield led the prayer. Meeting adjourned at 6:20, by Amanda Lauritsen and seconded by Jennifer Bauknecht.
